In most comics and manga, the main character’s story is one of trouble and tabulation. The main character, generally male, can only grow because of the people around them. Because of these strong connections, the main character becomes more and more powerful until they can defeat the main villain of the story or even just the next baddie.
In comic books, teams like, The Avengers, The X-Men and The Justice League have been seen.
In manga, some of the most popular shōnen (story centered around a main character who is under the age of 15) teams are: Naruto, Bleach and One Piece.
Other genera of manga like shōujo (aimed towards young girls; romance stories, female main character), mecha (robots, sometimes Transformer like, usually with a male main character) and sports (the main character is usually male and in high school).
